Morgan Stanley disbanded its highly regarded FX analytics team, Quantitative Solutions & Innovations (QSI), as part of its move to cut 25% of its fixed income headcount last year. Since then, a number of its key people have emerged in new roles.

The latest is Aman Thind, who led the technology for QSI from New York and worked in various quant and strat roles across Morgan Stanley for over seven years. Now, he’s emerged as the third co-founder at BestX – the transaction cost analysis (TCA) and FX analytics firm set up in March by Pete Eggleston, who led QSI at Morgan Stanley in London, and Oliver Jerome – the head of FXEM Europe sales and trading at the bank.

Thind is co-founder and director at BestX in New York, and is the latest Morgan Stanley alum to sign up to the new venture.

Other former members of Morgan Stanley’s QSI team have started emerging in new employers recently too. Yoshiyuki Hamajima, a former executive director and quantitative and algorithmic trading strategist for QSI, is now working at fixed income trading platform, Tradeweb. He’s a director focused on algorithmic execution and TCA designer for the rates, credit and ETF markets.

Meanwhile, Yangling Li, who worked in the QSI team for around a year, has now been hired as an eFX quant at UBS. This follows the appointment of Ralf Donner, who worked in FX sales within Morgan Stanley’s QSI team, at Goldman Sachs in July.
